Transformers Director Transforms His Home

You may recognize the residence above from the setting of the hit reality show Hogan Knows Best. If you followed the television series, you would recall the mix and crowd of furniture in the space.

The 17,000-square-foot residence on the Miami Beach Intracoastal Waterway is now owned by film director Michael Bay of action films Pearl Harbor, Armageddon and the Transformers series. Bay called upon his interior designer, Lynda Murry, and architect Chad Oppenheim to redesign his home. The reflecting pool and exterior furniture by Janus et Cie is beyond!

The inspiration of the design came from the natural Miami Beach surroundings - the ocean, trees and sky. The designer mixed Asian antiques with contemporary furniture to create a classical feel. Murry used neutral colors, clean lines and chenilles to achieve Bay's vision.

The glass and steel spiral staircase looks elegant and effortless, and the crystal pendant that lies above adds emphasis and really makes the room gleam. The clean lines of the banquette and daybed by Holly Hunt give the space a romantic essence, and the backlit wall of onyx makes the master bedroom an experience of its own.

The result: Clean. Functional. Timeless.
