2011 Interior Design Trend Forecast

As 2011 quickly approaches, more information about interior design trends is being released. Here are 2011 trend forecasts:

Color: Hues such as pinks, icy grays, royal blue, fuchsia, aged green, amber gold, sand, corals and neons will be reflected in both paint and fabric.

Furniture: Repurposed and recycled furniture and accessories will become increasingly popular, going along with the idea of "Green" living. Artisan one-of-a-kind pieces will be valued more than mass produced furniture.

Finishes & Materials: Distressed finishes will be seen. Light maple, pecan and walnut will be popular wood choices.

Fabrics: Elizabethan-inspired velvets and fabrics from 100% recycled material will be used.

Prints: Mayan, Incan, Hopi and African tribal patterns including geometric florals, trapezoids and primitive portrayals of the sun will be applied to the fabrics of pillows, bedding and draperies. Patterns with a retro flair are hot for 2011.

Lighting: Glass and crystal fixtures that glitter and sparkle will be seen. Natural light will lift the spirit of newly designed rooms.

Walls: Crown moldings and columns will be utilized to dress up rooms, and ceilings will be painted colors other than white.
