Sustainable Outdoor Seating
Robert Richardson created an outdoor bench that is chic and sustainable. Richardson created the bench using recycled plastic profiles and injected moulded plastic. The unique curved shape is a result of the plastic profiles being heat treated.
The bench can disperse rainwater quickly, and the seat can be used immediately after rainfall. The recycled plastic material is ideal for outdoor use because it does not rust or rot. It also can be cleaned easily. I love this bench - modern, functional and good to the earth.
Tori Mellott's Teen Vouge Bedroom
Tori Mellott, former Domino market editor, designed a stylish teen bedroom for a contest JCPenney and Teen Vouge Magazine put together where three lucky teens won a bedroom makeover.
The fourteen-year-old girl who won cried when she saw the room. Tori used the winner's favorite color, pink, but tried to stay away from frilly, girly pieces. She created a contemporary grownup room, and to achieve this she used clean lines and a funky geometric rug. Well job, Tori!

All White Bedrooms - Sleeping On A Cloud
White on white bedrooms are classic and timeless. My bedroom is all white, and I love how it allows for a restful and calming environment. The quality of light that comes through my white room in the morning is refreshing.
Accent pieces in white rooms speak against the blank canvas. By using a variety of shades of white, the architectural details of the room play an important part in the design. Using different whites for finishes and fabrics is important. The room remains interesting and still gives the calming effect you wish to achieve. For example, using an egg shell for the walls, high gloss white paint on the crown moldings and flat white color on the ceiling gives a great effect without being too dramatic.
Vicente Wolf uses white walls as his backdrop for almost all the interiors he designs. I love white walls against a ceiling painted a shade of blue or purple.

AphroChic Fall Collection Launched
AphroChic has finally launched its Fall collection! Creative Director and Founder Jeanine Hays has succeeded and stayed true to her "modern, soulful, style." The large-scale geometric pillows, wallpaper, table linens and organic shower curtains are right on. I have loved the line since it launched last year, and I'm so happy to see the business expanding.
Wall Street's Gordon Gekko: Bachelor Pad In The Sky
I am most excited about Interior Designer Richard Hallberg's recent project at The Setai on 36th and Fifth Avenue, NYC. Bizzi & Partners, developers of the new hotel, hosted this years Design Visions: Cinema Style. Designers chose their favorite New York movie and designed an extravagant apartment with a movie star as their imaged client.
Hallberg designed the penthouse apartment for Verdana, imagining the space was for Wall Street's Gordon Gekko after he was released from prison. Hallberg said he "selected furnishings that represented the 'best of the best' mixing 18th century furniture with contemporary pieces, modern art and Roman antiquities to produce a result that is timeless."
The penthouse pad sure looks like it is fit for the infamous bachelor. I love the play on black and white with punchy colors to add a dramatic effect.
