Yuval Tal - Chopped

Yuval Tal is an industrial design studio engaged in design and development of new products. I have been watching Yuval Tal for some time, and I find their product design to be extremely thought provoking.

Many of their products had been presented in exhibitions and won design prizes in Israel and around the world.

Chopped is one of their products that I think is super unique and fun. Chopped is a series of three tables in three different sizes made from wooden dowels and then wrapped in a metal ring. The pieces are available in three different heights in orange, grey or green lacquer. What a cool side table!

Fluorescent is Fun!

It's no secret that neon is back! This season neon is everywhere in fashion and interior design. Fluorescent hues have reentered the design world through furniture and home accessories. I love neon as it adds energy and vibrancy into any room. Lighten up your life with neon!

Neon furniture can make a bold statement. A simple white desk can be dressed up and fun and with a hot pink desk chair. Sometimes all you need is one pop of bright color to liven an entire living space! Neon accents through accessories is another great way to incorporate this fresh look into your home.

Celerie Kemble by Merida Rug Collection!

The week of June 13 marked the highly anticipated unveiling of Celerie Kemble by Merida Rug Collection. The collection features 9 designs and 23 new SKUs. The collaboration is wonderful as it mixes Celerie's eclectic style with the timeless designs of Merida.

I was fortunate to intern for Kemble Interiors this past year and see her creative process firsthand. I am very excited for her rug launch!

Celerie's main inspiration behind the collection was her love for bright and cheery colors seen in floral, food and fashion. The collection features hand-woven sisals, wools and wool-linen blends.

Catalyst is Celerie's signature pattern of the collection. The pattern has much movement and energy. The Plough pattern has beautiful imperfect lines. The Belted Stripe pattern in Tuxedo is featured in Celerie's Black and White (and a Bit in Between) book. The weave is sophisticated and elegant.

Check out the Celerie Kemble Collection for Merida here!

Celerie is working with Schumacher to put out a wallpaper line this Fall as well. Stay Tuned!

Kitchens Of All White

Much like a crisp white tablecloth at a restaurant, an all white kitchen is clean and fresh looking, making eating an exciting event. White kitchens are light, airy and fabulous.

I love white cabinets paired with glossy white subway tiles for the backsplash and white Carrera marble countertops. Stainless steel appliances with this all white fresh look is sleek and sexy. Light colored marble flooring looks beautiful with this all white look as well as a floor stained a dark ebony, giving the look a nice contrast.

The white kitchen with the checkerboard flooring is edgy and glamorous. The crisp graphic is rich and dramatic. The red lacquered chairs juxtaposed to the all white kitchen is a fun pop of color and adds whimsy.

Walls that Match Your Furniture

Even though matching upholstered furniture with coordinating upholstered walls or wallpaper is an old trick, but I am a big fan of this look. If done correctly with the right graphic, bold wallpaper and fabric, it can give a continuous, fluid and beautiful look. I do not think this style looks matchy matchy if done in a funky and fun fabric. The key is boldness. The pattern should be loud or make a statement.

It's all about the Pouf!

Ottoman, footstool, mini coffee table or whatever you may call it, the multipurpose pouf has become a true obsession of mine - multifunctional furniture at its best! The traditional Moroccan pouf has taken on a whole new meaning. More and more, I am seeing upholstery companies come out with poufs in fun and funky colors, patterns and shapes. Each pouf has their own unique personality.

Check out some of my favorite poufs!

Painting Wood Floors

I love painted wood floors! They give rooms true personality and character without using an area rug. The floor becomes the eye candy of the room.

Painting wood floors is an old tradition from the Colonial Days when rugs were too expensive for the average person. It has come back with true drama and style.

Stenciling painted floors is fabulous! I particularly love white painted floors. The look is fresh and modern.
